Prenatal Yoga

Yoga has a myriad of benefits in the childbearing year: relief from common discomforts, stress relief, emotional support, preparation for birth and postpartum, and more. Each practice is tailored to the needs of the student. Generally, we begin with a check-in to address your needs and answer your questions. We move on to a breath-focused meditation, setting the stage for a practice of self-inquiry. Our postures focus on core-stability, pelvic floor awareness, and movement for a more comfortable pregnancy and postpartum. Mindfulness meditation is woven throughout the practice to use as a tool in labor and all the challenges that parenting will surely bring. Each practice wraps up with a restorative pose for deep relaxation.

Whether you just found out you are expecting, or you are well beyond the “fourth trimester,” this practice is for you! All levels of yoga practitioners are welcome. Experienced yogis will be given options to deepen their practice and benefit from the attention to pregnancy and postpartum that is not available in their usual classes. Beginners will enjoy a slow pace enabling them to learn the art and science of yoga to benefit them in the childbearing year and to start a lifelong practice if they choose.

Please dress comfortably and bring a water bottle. In addition, please bring a basic set of props, including a bolster, two blocks, and blanket, like these. If you are practicing in person and do not have your own yoga props, you may borrow a set in the studio for a $10 cleaning fee.

Scheduling and rates:

Group Classes: Gather your expectant (and/or postpartum) friends from birth class or your expectant parent meet-up. Ninety-minute sessions are available by appointment for up to six people at a rate of $169 per session. Additional students are welcome to join at a rate of $29 each up to nine students total.

Carrot Fertility Members: Online classes are available alternating Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30am Pacific Time. Please log-in to your Carrot account to register.

Private sessions (for a single student with or without a partner) are available at a rate of $169 for the first 75-90 minute introductory session and $129 for additional 60-75 minute sessions. A package of four follow-up sessions can be purchased in advance for $449.

Couples workshop: A group of up to four couples are welcome to practice together in a two-hour workshop focused on using yoga as a tool for labor. $279
