Intro to Teaching Prenatal Yoga

This introduction to prenatal yoga will give yoga teachers an overview of the basics, the confidence to modify postures for expectant people in general yoga classes, and the information needed to embark on a successful path to teaching prenatal yoga.

Topics covered:

  • Basic anatomy and physiology of the pregnant person

  • Composition of a prenatal yoga class and how it differs from “regular” yoga

  • Debunking common pregnancy and birth myths

  • Overview of perinatal health care crisis in the US

  • Yoga postures to avoid

  • Modifications to accommodate common limitations of pregnancy

  • Yoga to alleviate common pregnancy discomforts

  • The importance of postural alignment in pre and postnatal health

  • Simple ways to stabilize the pelvic floor in pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond

  • Next steps to pursuing a career as a Prenatal Yoga Teacher

Introduction to Teaching Prenatal Yoga can be scheduled as a 6-hour workshop for a group of a yoga teachers who would like to learn together in-person or studios may book it as part of a 200-hour teacher training.
