Lotus Blossom Yoga Welcomes Four New Teachers

by Jeanna Lurie

Hillary and I love teaching prenatal yoga and wish we could be available to meet the demands of our students who would like to attend weekend and evening classes. Unfortunately, family commitments limit our availability. If only we could clone ourselves! (Even if science could make that possible, I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with that idea, so we will do the next best thing.) Starting Tuesday, September 3, we welcome four wonderful, talented teachers to the Lotus Blossom family: Adrienne, Lisa, Casey, and Rebecca. (Find the new schedule here.)

Adrienne and Lisa come to us through our Lotus Blossom Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training earlier this year. As soon as I met them, I knew they had a lot to offer the moms in our community. Adrienne is our “learning junkee”—always reading, diving into continuing education, ready to take yet another workshop. Introspective and open-hearted, Adrienne turns every life experience into a growth opportunity. With a background in dance, Lisa’s teaching style reminds me of my own. She has a big love for alignment and is very sensitive to the needs of her students. They were both star students in their cohort, and we are confident that they will lead fantastic classes.

Rebecca relocated to the area just last year. Originally from Australia, she trained in New York and London and ran her own studio in the UK. As soon as Hillary and I met Rebecca last spring, there was an instant connection. While she brings a different perspective to the nuances of yoga practice, our philosophies are very much aligned. This is a perfect mix for us to learn from each other and to bring more expertise to our students!

I first met Casey six years ago when she attended my class, pregnant with her first child. A few months later, she took my Intro to Teaching Prenatal Yoga workshop, followed by six months of mentoring with me. She displayed all the makings of an excellent teacher and jumped right into teaching. Casey then went on to train with Jane Austin in San Francisco and explored the offerings of Janet Balaskas’ Active Birth Centre while living for a year in the UK. She recently returned to the area, and I decided to reach out—only to find that she had been thinking about getting back into teaching here! Serendipitous!

These four ladies are a perfect addition to the Lotus Blossom Team! We are sure you will enjoy practicing with these fun, talented teachers.
